Mental Health Conversations for Disciples of Jesus Christ
Connect with a growing community of followers of Jesus Christ who seek to share His love by first building a deep relationship with Him. Through Christ's transformative love, we overcome our natural tendencies, allowing that love to flow into our families, friends, and communities.
This community is facilitated by Patricia Ogden, an IFS Level 3 Practitioner. For more information see her website at www.insideouthealingspace.com.
Trauma blocks love. Love heals trauma.
As disciples of Jesus Christ we believe that this life is the perfect school for refinement to become like our Savior Jesus Christ.
God designed this life so that we would experience the bitter and the sweet. These are the experiences we have that have shaped who we are today. Some might say the bitter experiences of life are those we wish we could forget and leave in the past. For many individuals these experiences occurred during a childhood that may have included; neglect, emotional, physical, sexual or even spiritual abuse from caregivers, the death of a loved one, significant family changes, significant health challenges or simply living in a mortal world full of imperfect human beings. It is through an accumulation of these experiences that we can develop something psychology calls trauma.
What is trauma? Put simply, Dr. Gabor Maté, a physician, author, and internationally renowned speaker specializing in the study and treatment of addiction, trauma, stress-related illnesses, and childhood development, defines trauma not as the external event itself, but as the internal wound that results when a person feels overwhelmed, unsupported, or unable to process distressing experiences. He famously states, "Trauma is not what happens to you; it is what happens inside you as a result of what happens to you,” and I will add, it often leads to lasting negative impacts on functioning and beliefs about our relationship with ourselves, others and the way we perceive our relationship with God.
Our journey is far from ordinary; it is a dynamic and often challenging expedition marked by unexpected turns, profound depths, and moments that test our resolve.
Rather than viewing stumbles or trials as failures, we embrace them as essential components of a refining path, a transformative process that shapes our character and deepens our understanding and our connection with the Divine and our fellow human beings.
At the core of our mission lies an unwavering focus on Christ, guiding us to remain steadfast in our values and covenants while creating meaningful space for thoughtful, lasting impact in the lives of others.
This endeavor transcends mere conversation; it is a heartfelt reflection of our deepest beliefs and a sincere invitation to foster transformation within ourselves and the wider community.
Driven by a shared commitment to radical self-reflection, radical honesty, and insatiable curiosity, we strive to cultivate an environment where Christ's love can flourish, ultimately seeking to bring that divine compassion to the entire family of God
Who We Are
We have established a profound and enduring intention to collaboratively cultivate a life in which our True Self serves as the guiding force for our inner worlds, fostering a deep sense of authenticity and alignment. To bring this transformative vision to life—
We actively engage in regular group meetings that serve as a sanctuary to renew our collective commitment, rekindle our excitement, and strengthen our shared dedication to this essential inner work.
Complementing these gatherings, we diligently participate in rigorous self-examination, courageously exploring our own contributions to our experiences to uncover hidden patterns and foster personal growth.
Furthermore, we fully embrace both self-leadership and Christ-led guidance by integrating our own parts work practices into our daily lives, while remaining open to seeking individual therapy or coaching whenever deeper support is needed to navigate complex emotional landscapes.
We remain deeply grateful for the journey that has brought us here, fully immersed in the present moment while holding a steadfast optimism for the future that lies ahead. What truly sets our community apart is not simply the methods we employ, but the profound and deliberate intention that guides every step of our process: we are committed to understanding, exploration, and creation that are deeply rooted in our spiritual foundation. We view ourselves and every other person as cherished children of God, each endowed with unique capacities and divine gifts—our "Divine DNA"—that beautifully reflect the boundless love of our Heavenly Father and Mother.
Rather than seeing the natural man or woman as an enemy, we embrace them as a willing ally to God, yielding to His love and His invitation for continuous growth, transformation, and enduring joy. Furthermore, we recognize ourselves as faithful stewards of our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, actively embracing the invitation to pursue deeper spiritual maturity. We surrender to Christ's call, inviting our natural selves and all our inner parts to place their trust in Jesus, ultimately becoming like little children through His transformative at-one-ment.
